How Much Do Veneers Cost in the UK?
Porcelain veneers across the UK market typically cost £500 to £2,000 per tooth. That is a market range rather than a clinic price, and it is wide because it covers everything from high-street practices to specialist cosmetic clinics. At Holford Partners Curaden Dental Clinic, 73 New Bond Street, Mayfair, our porcelain veneers are £1,200 to £1,950 per tooth, as published on our prices page.
Composite work costs considerably less, and we set out those figures further down. Before you budget against any per-tooth figure, one point matters more than the rest: veneers are almost never bought one at a time, so the per-tooth price understates what most patients actually spend.

Veneers Cost Per Tooth, and Why That Figure Is Misleading
Veneers at Holford Partners Curaden are priced per tooth, from £1,200 to £1,950, so the total depends on how many teeth you treat. Some patients treat a single tooth, while others treat several across the smile line, and your dentist will advise on how many suit your smile. The upper 6 (canine to canine) are the teeth most visible in a relaxed smile, and a wider smile can show the upper 8 or 10 teeth.
Number of teeth | Total at £1,200 per tooth | Total at £1,950 per tooth |
2 (front teeth) | £2,400 | £3,900 |
4 | £4,800 | £7,800 |
6 (upper smile line) | £7,200 | £11,700 |
8 | £9,600 | £15,600 |
10 (full upper arch) | £12,000 | £19,500 |
These totals are calculated from our published range of £1,200 to £1,950 per tooth. They are arithmetic, not quotations. The number of teeth is agreed with your dentist at your first appointment, where you discuss what you want to achieve. A smile makeover may also combine veneers with other treatments, such as teeth whitening or composite bonding, which changes the total cost again. Any initial consultation or hygiene appointment needed beforehand is not included in these figures.
Porcelain Veneers Cost
Porcelain veneers cost £1,200 to £1,950 per tooth at our Mayfair clinic. Your dentist will agree on the cost with you before treatment begins, and the exact figure depends on your treatment plan.
Each veneer is a wafer-thin piece of porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth. A small amount of natural tooth is removed to make room for it, and detailed impressions of your teeth are sent to a dental laboratory, which makes the veneers to your dentist’s specifications. Porcelain can be matched to the colour of your other teeth, and veneers are usually fitted over 3 visits.
Composite Veneers Cost
Composite bonding, including composite veneers, costs £250-£500 per tooth at our Mayfair clinic. Composite veneers cover the entire tooth to change its shape and whiten its appearance, while composite edge bonding makes smaller changes to chipped teeth. The final price depends on which you choose and how many teeth are treated, and it is confirmed at your consultation.
The practical difference from porcelain matters as much as the price. Composite bonding requires no drilling or preparation of the tooth and can usually be done in 1 visit. Porcelain veneers involve preparing the tooth, a dental laboratory, and usually 3 visits. Composite bonding is usually expected to last around 7 years, compared with 7 to 15 years for porcelain veneers.
Included in the Price of Veneers
A veneer price should cover the full treatment pathway, not just the day the veneer goes on. At our clinic, the per-tooth figure includes:
- Consultation and smile assessment, including photographs and an assessment of the smile line
- Digital scan or conventional impressions
- Shade matching against your natural teeth
- Laboratory fabrication of each veneer
- Temporary veneers where preparation requires them
- The fitting appointment and bonding
- Any adjustment appointments needed to settle the bite and finish
What a veneer’s cost does not usually include, here or elsewhere:
- Whitening of the natural teeth beforehand, which is priced separately
- A night guard afterwards, if you grind or clench
- Treatment of decay, gum disease, or a failing root canal that has to be dealt with before cosmetic work begins
Quick tip: Ask any clinic, including ours, for a written treatment plan that itemises each of those stages before you compare quotes. GDC guidance on advertising expects dental fees to be presented clearly, so a clinic should be able to show you exactly what its figure covers. A £450 quote and a £1,950 quote are not comparable until you know which stages each one includes, and a cheaper figure is not necessarily cheaper once the missing stages are added back. |
Veneers Cost More in London
Veneers cost more in London because of three measurable inputs, not postcode alone. The first is clinic overheads: premises in central London, intraoral scanning and imaging equipment, and the clinical and support staffing needed to run longer appointments. The second is laboratory choice. Using a UK laboratory and a named technician who hand-layers porcelain costs more per unit than a volume milling service, and that cost passes through to the fee. The third is clinician time. Veneer preparation and fitting are allocated to longer appointments, and the dentist’s experience in cosmetic restorative work is a key factor; chair time is the single largest variable in any private fee.
Our own fees reflect those inputs rather than the address. Holford Partners Curaden Dental Clinic has treated more than 120,000 patients since 1863, and we combine British dental heritage with Swiss Curaden expertise, which shapes both the laboratory work we commission and the time we set aside for each appointment.
None of this means treatment outside London is of lesser quality. Practices in lower-overhead locations run on different cost bases, and many produce excellent work. What it does mean is that a London figure should be explainable in terms of the three inputs above, and you are entitled to ask any clinic to explain it.
Veneers Abroad: What the Price Comparison Leaves Out
Overseas veneer packages are often quoted at a fraction of UK prices, and many patients travel and are happy with the result. The comparison is only fair, though, when the non-treatment factors are priced in alongside the headline figure.
- Aftercare and warranty. Establish in writing who is responsible if a veneer chips or debonds, and for how long.
- Complications once home. A UK dentist is not obliged to take on another clinician’s work, and some decline to do so.
- Follow-up and adjustments. Bite adjustments and refinements usually need to be made in person, which means additional travel.
- Remedial work. Any repair or replacement is rarely inside the original package price.
Ask for the warranty terms and the laboratory used in writing before booking anywhere, in the UK or abroad. Any clinic should be able to put both in writing on request.
Veneers Are Worth the Cost
The value argument rests on longevity. Porcelain veneers generally last between 7 and 15 years, and some of our patients treated over 20 years ago are still happy with their results. Composite bonding is usually expected to last around 7 years. Both are general figures rather than guarantees. Worked over time, 6 porcelain veneers at £11,700, the top of our range, come to roughly £780 to £1,670 a year over 15 to 7 years, which is a different proposition from the same figure read as a one-off purchase. Maintenance costs and eventual replacement need to be included in the same calculation.
There is a second cost that is not financial. Preparing a tooth for a porcelain veneer removes a small amount of natural enamel, and that cannot be reversed because enamel does not regrow. Once the veneers are removed, the natural teeth will not look the same as before. The NHS guide to dental treatments notes that some veneers require the front of the tooth to be drilled away slightly, but not all do. Where only minor changes to shape or colour are wanted, composite bonding is the more conservative route, as it requires no drilling or preparation of the teeth. We will talk through your options at your consultation, including whether bonding suits your teeth.
Whiten Your Teeth Before Veneers
Whitening comes first, because veneers are matched to the shade of your surrounding natural teeth at the point they are made. Neither porcelain nor composite responds to whitening gel, so whitening after the veneers are fitted lightens the natural teeth around them and can leave a visible mismatch.
The usual sequence is teeth whitening first, then a short settling period while the shade stabilises and the enamel recovers its bond strength, then shade matching at the veneer preparation appointment. Whitening is priced separately and is not part of the veneer fee, so build it into your budget at the planning stage rather than discovering it later.
